If your kids are currently obsessed with Garten of Banban like mine is, this simple Garten of Banban kids craft is a really fun way to turn that obsession into something creative away from a screen for a little while.
Robbie is 7 now, and honestly, it feels like everybody in his class is talking about Banban, Jumbo Josh, Banbaleena and the rest of the weirdly creepy kindergarten gang. After watching him carefully recreate the character designs from the game, I realised these characters actually make surprisingly good craft ideas for kids.
We decided to make our own Banban using a paper plate, some craft paper and a lot of glue. It ended up being one of those simple activities that looked much harder than it really was.

What You Need
For our Garten of Banban craft, we used:
- A red paper plate
- White craft paper
- Pink craft paper
- Black pen or marker
- Glue
- Scissors
- Coloured pens or pencils
If you do not have coloured paper plates at home, you could easily paint or colour a white plate instead.
How To Make A Garten of Banban Kids Craft
Start With Banban’s Eyes
We started by making Banban’s slightly wonky eyes first.
My cutting skills are genuinely terrible, so instead of trying to cut perfect circles by hand, I used a large hole punch on some white craft paper. It actually worked far better than expected and gave us two clean circles straight away.
Robbie then coloured in the black sections himself to create Banban’s distinctive uneven eyes before we glued them onto the plate.
Making Banban’s Mouth And Tongue
Next came the mouth.
I cut out a simple mouth shape while Robbie coloured it in red and outlined it in black. The tongue is one of the funniest parts of Banban’s design, so we made sure to include that too.
We cut the tongue from pink craft paper, although you could just colour white paper if that is easier. You could even draw the tongue directly onto the plate if you wanted a quicker version for younger kids.
Once everything was glued into place, Banban’s face was basically complete.
Creating Banban’s Party Hat Ears
For the ears, we decided to make the colourful party hat version because it just looks much more fun than the plain red version from some parts of the games.
I cut two large triangle shapes from craft paper and Robbie carefully copied the striped design from a screenshot of the game. Honestly, I was pretty impressed with how accurate he made them.
After gluing the triangles onto the back of the plate, our Banban was finished.
Different Ways To Make This Banban Craft
One thing I like about this Garten of Banban kids craft is how easy it is to adapt depending on the age of your child or the craft supplies you already have at home.
Turn It Into A Banban Mask
You can cut eye holes into the plate and add some string to turn it into a wearable Banban mask.
This would probably work really well for birthday parties or gaming-themed playdates.
Make Banban More Game Accurate
If you want the character to look more like the version from the game, you could trim away some of the ridged edges around the paper plate to create a slightly longer face shape.
Make Other Garten of Banban Characters
Once we finished Banban, Robbie immediately started talking about making the other characters too.
Banbaleena would actually be a really easy alternative because the design is very similar, just with a white face instead of red. That could even be easier if you only have plain white plates at home.

Why This Craft Worked So Well
A lot of video game crafts end up being surprisingly complicated once you actually try them with kids. This one was simple enough to keep Robbie interested the whole time without needing loads of preparation from me first.
The best part was probably watching him carefully study the game artwork to copy the ears properly. It turned into one of those activities where he was concentrating so hard that the house suddenly went quiet for ten minutes — which never happens very often.
It is also one of those crafts that does not need to look perfect to still end up looking recognisable.

FAQs
What age is this Garten of Banban craft suitable for?
We made this with my 7-year-old, but younger children could definitely join in with some help for the cutting parts.
Do I need coloured paper plates?
Not at all. A white paper plate with paint, crayons or pens works perfectly fine.
Which Banban character is easiest to make?
Banban and Banbaleena are probably the easiest because their faces are fairly simple shapes compared to some of the other characters in the games.
Final Thoughts
This turned out to be one of those surprisingly fun crafts that came together with very little planning. If your child is currently obsessed with Garten of Banban, this is an easy way to bring some of that excitement into a simple screen-free activity at home.
And honestly, for something made from a paper plate and a few bits of craft paper, I think Robbie’s Banban ended up looking pretty good.
